Our family had SO MUCH FUN at Loch Ness. It was pretty close to a perfect (long) weekend! We loved staying in the abbey, it was such a fun setting (besides the Professor Snape-ness of our Airbnb hostess)! We took a boat tour of Loch Ness and it was a total hit with everyone, many thanks to our hilarious guide! We went to a show at the Clansman centre and learned about Scottish heritage, we wandered through the shops in the quaint and tiny downtown area and laughed at all the clever Nessy paraphernalia, we lingered in the pubs making friends with all the dogs, played soccer on the abbey lawn and wizards chess in the courtyard and swam as much as we could in the chapel pool!
After checking out we visited the Loch Ness museum and relived mine and Evan’s childhood exploring the mystery of the Loch Ness monster. They had an awesome scavenger hunt for the kids which they really enjoyed.
We ate a proper Scottish breakfast at the cutest little café in Drumnadrochit complete with Haggis and blood pudding. We all tried it and the kids weren’t huge fans but Evan and I both quite enjoyed it! It wasn’t nearly as bad as it sounds!
And finally we caught the sunset at Urquhart Castle, right on the water, which was too, too good. Such a magical spot!
